Description
Hexarelin, also known as examorelin, is a synthetic hexapeptide that acts as a potent agonist of the growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHS-R). It was originally developed to stimulate the body’s natural production and release of growth hormone (GH), but it is not approved by the FDA for human use and is generally classified as a research chemical.
Mechanism of Action
Hexarelin mimics the action of the natural hormone ghrelin by binding to GHS-R receptors, which are found in the pituitary gland, hypothalamus, heart, and other tissues. This binding stimulates a signaling cascade that results in:
A significant increase in endogenous growth hormone (GH) levels.
Secondary stimulation of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) production.
An increase in adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and cortisol levels, which is a moderate, transient side effect.
